Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States, is a beautiful natural oasis in the heart of the City. Located on 1,300 acres in the center of the St. Louis metropolitan area, Forest Park is nearly 500 acres larger than New York City’s Central Park and boasts over 180 acres of Nature Reserves that include forests, wetlands, prairies and savannas.

Aug 04, 2020 · The St. Louis postmaster proposed creating a branch line extending from Chicago to St. Louis. City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce each kicked in $12,500 to build a hangar and clear about 100 acres of Forest Park for a runway. The first airmail flight clattered out of the park on the morning of August 16, 1920, carrying about 150 pounds of mail.
