The Fondation Louis Vuitton is pleased to announce that its fall exhibits will be devoted to two exceptional 20th century artists : Egon Schiele and Jean Michel Basquiat. In Fall, the Fondation will host two major exhibitions: one is dedicated to Jean-Michel Basquiat, the other one to Egon fondation louis vuitton basquiat bookstore Schiele.
Issue #8 of the Journal mainly focuses on both exhibitions "Jean-Michel Basquiat" and "Egon Schiele". Companion to the exhibitions, the Journal takes you on a detailed tour of the artworks. Thirty years after his death, over 120 works were assembled together, many never having been exhibited before. Basquiat absorbed everything, mixing the lessons of the street with a repertoire of images, heroes, and symbols from a wide range of cultures.In 2018 the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris, is hosting exhibitons on two of the greatest artists of the 20th century - Egon Schiele, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Both exhibitions have the same curator, and are taking place at the same time. The shows illustrate exactly what it is that linked the two artists: line, and the use of expressive force.
The Fondation is a private initiative. It has been made possible thanks to the corporate patronage of LVMH and the Group’s companies, notably Louis Vuitton, reflecting the values shared by all the people of LVMH and its shareholders. The Fondation tran-scends the ephemeral present by creating optimistic momentum and embodying a passion for artistic freedom.
Thanks to the generosity of the lenders and in response to the event’s popularity among the public, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is today announcing that its exhibition “Jean-Michel Basquiat” will be extended for a further week, until Monday 21 January 2019. The “Egon Schiele” exhibition will not be extended due to issues relating to the conservation and fragility of the works.
